August, 08, 2012 600cc Sidewinders
The MTQRL is looking into the possibility of adding another division to our race dates at fairgrounds tracks. We have made contacts in the 600cc sidewinder micro sprint community to see if there would be any interest in racing with the MTQRL.
The sidewinders would have their own set of heat races and feature and would not be on the track at the same time as the three-quarter midgets. They would be expected to abide by the MTQRL rules of conduct, safety equipment and minimum driver age. Their purse would be guaranteed and based on car count.
On Saturday night Shannon Waggoner brought his sidewinder to Shelbyville and his daughter Kati ran some demonstration laps. This gave the Waggoner's the opportunity to meet some of our officials and drivers and to see what type of racing surface/track is at the Shelby County Fairgrounds.
In order to gather information before the off-season the MTQRL has put feelers out to see if there would be any interest in racing with the league at Madison (August 11th) and Shelbyville (August 18th and September 1st). If you know of anyone who competes in this class that might be interested in racing on those dates please have them contact Sandy Lowe at mtqrl.pr@gmail.com.
The MTQRL will make a decision on whether or not to add this class based upon the response we receive. If at least six drivers will verbally commit to any of those dates we will add them to our schedule.
