July, 31, 2010 CJ Leary Wins at Lawrenceburg

Rookie CJ Leary scored his second win of the year on Saturday night when the Midwest TQ Racing League presented by Vincennes University competed at the Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Ind.

Polesitter Rick Robinson led the field to start the feature but when the green flag waived a sixth starting Leary sliced through the field taking the lead on the opening lap. Leary began to pull away from first Jason Willis and then Tim Lynch before a hard charging Tate Martz began to track him down.

When the white flag waived Leary and Martz raced side-by-side under the flag stand. Martz took the lead in turn one only to bounce off the cushion while Leary stayed low and regained the lead. Leary pulled away to take the win over Martz, Lynch, willis and Chris Guinn.

Preliminary heat races were won by Lynch and Leary. Leary's opening lap moves earned him the INOX Slick Move of the Race and he was also the highest finishing rookie and named the Tony Stewart Racing Rookie of the Race. Will Wilson pulled off the track on the fifth lap of the feature with motor problems and was awarded the Duane & Sonja Alexander Hard Luck Driver. Martz passed eight cars in the feature and won the Ward's Apparel Hard Charger award. $50 gift certificates were won by Rick Robinson (Jackson Oil & Solvents) and Kyle Lux (Ward's Apparel).
