June, 26, 2010 Tate Martz Wins at Twin Cities

Defending champion Tate Martz became the first repeat winner of the season on Saturday night when the Midwest TQ Racing LeagueTM presented by Vincennes University competed at the Twin Cities Raceway Park in Vernon, Ind.

Polesitter Nick Speidel got the jump on the field when the green flag waived to start the 20-lap feature. First Jason Willis, and then Tate Martz, began to pressure Speidel for the lead. Martz slipped under Speidel to take the lead on lap nine and led the final twelve laps to score his sixth career MTQRL victory. Tim Lynch, Chris Mann, CJ Leary and Rick Robinson rounded out the top five. Heat winners were Speidel and Willis.

Robinson advanced eleven places in the feature and received the Ward's Apparel Hard Charger Award. Leary's fourth place finish earned him the Tony Stewart Racing Rookie of the Race and Martz made the INOX Slick Move of the Race. Kyle Lux lost a wheel in his heat race and was unable to continue for the evening and was named the Duane & Sonja Alexander Hard Luck Driver.

With the win Martz increased his point lead to 62 over Speidel. Chris Guinn remains in third with only one point separating Leary and Lynch for fourth place.
