The MTQRL's thoughts are with those whose lives were devastated
by the tornados in southern Indiana on March 2nd. Any
individual who presents a Drivers License with an address
in either Henryville or Holton, Ind. will receive FREE
general admission for themselves and their children.
The pit pass arm bands from Saturday's rain out at Madison will be
valid at Columbus. You must present your pit pass arm band at the pit gate
(the MTQRL is not responsible for lost or misplaced pit pass arm bands).
The Midwest TQ Racing League would like to welcome back Tony Stewart as the presenting sponsor of the Rookie of the Year Award.
Stewart began his open wheel career in 1989 driving a three-quarter midget for Roy Barker. At just 18 years of age he quickly adapted to the TQ's taking his first win in the Barker #81 on July 14th at the Rush County Fair in Rushville, Ind. The following evening, also at Rushville, he placed a close second to veteran Ronnie Ambrose. Just three nights later Tony bested California driver Gary Howard at the Jefferson County Fair in Madison, Ind. earning his second feature win in only his fifth start!
Stewart's success in three-quarter midgets led to opportunities and championships in sprint cars, silver crown and midgets with the United States Auto Club. He then parlayed his USAC achievements to the Indy Racing League where he won the 1996-1997 IRL Championship. Stewart then turned his attention to NASCAR, where after his 2011 championship season, he is now one of only nine drivers to win three or more NASCAR Sprint Cup titles.
Although Stewart has experienced the highest of highs in professional motorsports he has never forgotten the grassroots racing where his career began. This will be the third season that Stewart has been the presenting sponsor of the Rookie of the Year Award and the MTQRL would like to thank him for his continued support.
The Midwest TQ Racing League would like to announce that PERFECT NORTH SLOPES has partnered with the MTQRL to become the official heat race sponsor for the 2012 race season.
As every MTQRL event drivers will be competing in the Perfect North Slopes Heat Races for valuable points towards the season championship, a starting spot in the feature, and a pair of tubing passes to Perfect North Slopes!

Although Perfect North Slopes is currently closed for the skiing and tubing season they have a few upcoming events including the Mud-Stash obstacle course running event on May 19th. The Midwest TQ Racing League would like to announce that DUANE & SONJA ALEXANDER will be returning as sponsors of the "Hard Luck" award. The Alexander's have been benefactors of the MTQRL for the past two seasons and their continued support in helping to create "A New Era in TQ Midget Racing" is very much appreciated.
The "Duane & Sonja Alexander Hard Luck Driver" award will continue to be presented at each race to a driver who, in the opinion of the officials, had the worst luck of the night. That driver will be named the "Duane & Sonja Alexander Hard Luck Driver" and receive a $50 cash award. At season's end the Alexander's will select a driver that they feel experienced the worst luck over the course of the year and present him a check for $500 at the Banquet and Awards Ceremony.
Duane & Sonja Alexander join previously announced 2012 MTQRL contingency sponsors Jackson Oil & Solvents, Lynch Motorsports and Pace Performance Coatings.
The Chassis Requirements section of the MTQRL Rule Book has been revised on April 9, 2012.
Rule 12.10 Roll Cage has been changed as follows:
► All cars must have a roll cage that is integral with the frame that allows the driver to exit through the top of the cockpit opening.
► Cars constructed after 5/1/12 must have roll cages that do not encroach upon an imaginary cylinder, 20 inches in diameter, extending through the top cockpit opening directly above the seat.
I apologize for any concerns the original wording may have raised. The intent of the rule is a safety issue to make sure the drivers can exit the car through the top of the roll cage.
The Safety Requirements section of the MTQRL Rule Book has been posted to the website. Please consult the Rule Book for more details.
► Helmet - Must meet or exceed SA 2005 Snell Foundation.

► Neck Collars - Neck collar or SFI approved head and neck restraint is mandatory.
